Beginning early this year, certain search engine made some changes to their search ranking, in the name of providing more relevant search results for it’s users, according to their official blog, this change impacts 11.8% organic search results, in another word, google thinks about 12% of it’s search results are really bad and need to manipulated. Google started this change almost one year ago, maybe that’s why some of my ranks dropped out of first 10 pages, the good thing is that those keywords promoted by content rich links are not affected, some of the keywords even ranked better than before, it becomes clear that linking campaign the old way is the thing of past, probably due to link spamming sites being downgraded by google.
What is old way of link building any way? There are a lot of SEO company out there are doing this, they add your links to those linking websites without context, the only updates on those websites are the new links, it’s safe to assume all of them are trash, we call these sites link spamming sites. New google algorithm most likely will punish these link spammers, all the links on those websites will have the same fate.
Let’s check out a few examples. In the very beginning, I didn’t know better, I started with this keyword, Grade 70 Chain, it was old way of link building all the way, almost all the sites I got link from had too many links, and those sites had only links, no real content at all. I would give credit where credit is due, this linking strategy worked, eventually the keyword could be found on first page, this was the case until google made the change. Something opposite happened to this keyword, chain pullers, most back links for this keyword are from articles and posts, with very few plain links, you can imagine how this keyword ranks. So contextual link wins this time, what about future? In fact the only thing matters here is content, so if you create great content, you will attract readers as well as search engines. How do you do it? Writing articles and building blogs, for instance let’s examine this one, sherri hill dresses , I didn’t put too much effort into it from start, but I never stopped posting, now it can even rank the highly competitive keywords.
